Rugby Union SA announced today that they will be following SA Governments requirements regarding vaccinations to play rugby in the 2022 season.

There are currently no restrictions regarding participation in community sport, therefore at this stage there are no requirements imposed on players to be vaccinated to play Rugby in 2022.

CEO of Rugby Union SA, Carl Jones said “we would be doing our community an injustice if we were to mandate a ‘no vax no play’ policy. Sport is one of the few stables in these crazy times, designed to relieve stress not create more.”

Under current guidelines, trainers, physios and first aid attendants will need to be fully vaccinated as they are providing first aid to players.

Clubs will still need to adhere to their current COVID safe plans as set by the Department of Health.

The 2022 season is set to kick off on 2nd April.
