Named after South Australia’s iconic state bird, the Piping Shrike identity has been created to give our junior representatives a program they can truly call their own, while still reflecting the proud traditions and high-performance standards associated with RugbySA Representative Rugby.

The Piping Shrike design follows a similar visual theme to our senior representative program, the Black Falcons, creating a clear connection between the pathways while establishing a distinct identity for our emerging young players.

Just as the Black Falcons have become the symbol of South Australian rugby at senior level, the Piping Shrikes will represent the next generation of players wearing the state colours. We are excited to see the Piping Shrikes identity take the field and look forward to watching the program continue to grow in the years ahead

RugbySA has a range of rep teams from U14 to U18 for both males and females across XVs format. We currently facilitate senior representative and junior representative teams providing South Australians with the opportunity to represent their state at interstate tournaments & games against quality opposition.

These teams are vital for the development of elite players and sustaining Rugby Union in South Australia, as they provide the platform for players to go on to obtain higher honours. Exposure gained whilst representing South Australia has seen some local players go on to play professionally both Australia & Overseas.

RugbySA’s state representative teams are coached by quality accredited coaches in South Australia. As a result players are treated like high performance athletes as they are exposed to advanced skills, game analysis, individual feedback & goal setting, strength & conditioning, nutrition, preparation & recovery and athlete values & behaviours. To be considered for selection players must be registered with and playing for a South Australian club on a regular basis. Furthermore players must be financial with the club they represent (payment of club fees) as well as with the State Union (payment of fees for state programs).
