RUSA Round 6 Wrap: Burnside survive Uni scare to stay top of table

Defending premiers Burnside remain the only unbeaten premier men's side after Round 6 following their dramatic one-point win over Adelaide University.

The Double Blues were forced to dig deep as Uni flew out of the blocks for a 14-all deadlock at half time.

Burnside showed their class in the second term with tries to Callan Barrell and Freeman Eder and a Eder penalty goal putting them up 29-14 with eight minutes remaining.

However a late Uni surge yielded two tries against the run of play with Uni duo Ben Thomas and Raphael Ferroni bagging doubles in a losing side.

Meanwhile Barossa remain within striking distance of the top four following a 33-25 away win over Woodville.

Both sides scored five tries with Rams' flyhalf Joe Crouch's boot the difference.

Brighton, Old Collegians and Southern Suburbs all produced bonus point wins to keep their positions in the top four.

Burnside and Woodville flexed their muscles in the women's competition with bonus point wins over Uni and Barossa respectively while Camille Tangitau starred for reigning champs Souths win a 26-5 win over Onkas.

In Reserve Grade, Old Colls and Tigers remain unbeaten while Brighton Gold lead the Third Grade ladder after winning their intra-club clash with Brighton Black 54-0.
