Do you know someone who should be recognized for their extraordinary contributions to Rugby in South Australia?
Nominations are now open for 2023 Hall of Fame and Life Membership.
Life Membership is different to Hall of Fame in that a person who has rendered distinguished specific service to the game of rugby union in South Australia.
Nominations normally arise by action of a particular club or individual who believe that a person has provided the length and type of service appropriate to the award; the Committee is then convened (generally six weeks before an AGM) and a decision is taken as to whether any recommendation (a special resolution) will be put to the AGM for approval. There is no requirement for the Board to endorse any nominee for Life Membership.
RUSA members at the AGM then vote on the recommendation and any successful recipients are presented at the following Don Smith Presentation Dinner.

Hall of Fame recognizes and enshrines players, coaches, referees and administrators who have made a significant outstanding overall contribution to the game of rugby union in South Australia
The Selection Committee shall consider a candidate’s outstanding services and overall contribution to the game of Rugby Union in South Australia for induction to the Hall of Fame.
- Without limiting the above, the Selection Committee may consider a candidate’s individual record, ability, integrity, sportsmanship and character.
- The number of rugby games played, coached or refereed or the years of service shall only be a consideration and shall not be conclusive for induction to the Hall of Fame.
- Candidates shall be judged on the basis of their overall contribution to rugby union as opposed to one specific aspect.
- There shall be no special order of precedence given to Hall of Fame inductees
The career statistics of each nomination may be astonishing, but the stories and achievements behind each nomination reveal their true greatness.
