We are very fortunate to have rugby here in a COVID year, but it does mean we have had to make some adjustments to running finals in the traditional way.

In consultation with our Competitions Advisory Group (CAG) we have planned a different structure for this year.

Commencing on Saturday 10th of October we will have all of the seniors games being played at three different venues - Brighton, Onkaparinga and Southern Suburbs. This will allow us to have four matches per venue with time in-between so crowds and players can disperse between games in order to keep our venue numbers below 1,000 people per venue. The reason behind these three clubs being selected is the close proximity to each other if there is a need to back up for a different grade, at a different club and the fact they each have 4 change rooms. The seniors will be broken down to

  • 1v2 in Premier, Reserves, Women and Thirds - played at Brighton
  • 3v4 in Premier, Reserves, Women and Thirds - played at Onkaparinga
  • 5v6 & 7v8 in Premier 2 and Reserves 2 - played at Southern Suburbs

These matches may change venues based on the teams competing.

Then on Sunday 11th of October will see all Junior finals being played at either Woodville and Port Adelaide. Again, the close proximity of these clubs means that any juniors that have a dispensation to play in more than one grade can get to the next game quite quickly. With only having only four games on, means that we can spread the start timings to allow players and spectators to leave before the next game is due to start, to help keep the numbers under 1,000 at each venue. On the Sunday, the format is likely to be broken down into

  • 1v4 in all juniors - to be played at Woodville
  • 2v3 in all juniors - to be played at Port Adelaide

These matches may change venues based on the teams competing.

We intend to update the community with weeks 2 and 3, before the end of the minor rounds.
