Rugby Union South Australia (RUSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Lochie Lawrence.
Mr Lawrence will take up the role in June.
RUSA Board chair Brett Smith announced the appointment today, adding that Mr Lawrence had been chosen from a strong field of contenders.
“Mr Lawrence brings to the table diverse career experience in a variety of industries but most recently has been a professional sports administrator working in rugby.
“His passion for the grassroots game and the incredible communities it fosters around Australia was evident throughout our recruitment process.
“He has worked with the Classic Wallabies in delivering to club communities across Australia, the Pacific Islands and Japan.
“In recent years he also worked with powerhouse Queensland Premier Rugby club Brothers and during his tenure he helped this club to deliver one of its most successful periods since the 1980s.
“Mr Lawrence’s experiences within the world of Rugby will see him focus on growing the game sustainably in South Australia, aiming to help the Union capitalise off Australia’s ‘Golden Decade’ in collaboration with RUSA’s clubs and Rugby Australia’s vision.
“I and the rest of the RUSA Board welcome him to the position and look forward to working with Mr Lawrence as he builds on his experience, growing rugby here in South Australia.”
Mr Lawrence said he was excited to take on the role in South Australia as rugby embraces the opportunities ahead to build participation in the state.
“Along with my family, I look forward to making the move to South Australia and strengthening the key relationships with the Rugby Union South Australia (RUSA) staff, clubs, volunteers and wider community,” he said.
“I am passionate about rugby and will bring that to the fore as we all work together to increase awareness, engagement and participation in rugby at all levels.”
