Brighton and Burnside will reprise their Premier Grade finals rivalry once more after wrapping their regular seasons with Round 16 wins.

Doubles to Jaden Phillips and Jack Butler saw the Tigers wrap up the minor premiership in style against Southern Suburbs - eventually running away 51-23 victors - while Burnside's fast start to set up a 34-31 win over Barossa has them in good stead for Saturday's major semi final at Wilfred Taylor Reserve.

Brighton and Burnside split the difference with one win apiece this season and will doubtless be eyeing this weekend's match-up as a both a psychological win and grand final ticket.

In other Premier Grade results, Old Collegians finished their regular season with a flourish, defeating Woodville 50-15 at Gleneagles Reserve to throw down their gauntlet ahead of mouthwatering minor semi final with Barossa.

2023 stragglers Adelaide University capped their stunning turnaround with a 29-28 win over Onkaparinga to finish the season in sixth with seven wins, equal to and just two competition points behind fifth-placed Souths. Coach Peter Jackson also made a cameo appearance in the second half, now playing Premier Grade rugby across fives decades.

The result condemned Onkas to their tenth loss of the year and eighth on the ladder ahead of Port Adelaide (ninth) and Elizabeth (tenth).

In the women's competition, Southern Suburbs' 70-point win over Port Collegians couldn't deny Woodville the minor premiership while Uni finished their season in style.

Souths were unyielding in a 12-try romp to further cement their second placing and set the stage for a massive major semi final against Wasps this weekend.

However it was Uni who produced the weekend's biggest result, running in six tries to Onkas' three in a 34-15 upset on the road and giving the Devils cause for concern ahead of their minor semi final clash with Burnside.

In Reserve Grade, Old Colls secured their finals double chance against minor premiers Brighton with their bonus-point win over Woodville keeping them one competition point ahead of third-placed Burnside, who will face Souths in sudden death this weekend.

Meanwhile Brighton Gold's 56-17 win over Souths iced an unbeaten Third Grade minor premiership but the Tigers will be wary of a Burnside ambush in their major semi final with Old Colls and Onkas set to contest the minor semi final.
