Our Competitions Advisory Group (CAG) have been contacted electronically to vote on their clubs preference for a start date for the 2023 XVs Competition. Consideration for an earlier start was proposed in order for the season to be completed before the Rugby World Cup begins in France.

Two options were presented to the group:

Option 1

Commencing on the 25th of March:

  • Bye for Easter (two weeks after season commencing)
  • Bye for Kings Birthday in June
  • Bye for School Holiday in the middle week of July
  • last round of the season being on the 12th of August
  • two weeks of finals for juniors and possibly three weeks of finals for seniors

Option 2:

Commencing on the 15th of April:

  • Bye for Kings Birthday
  • Bye for School Holiday in the middle week of July
  • last round of the season being on the 26th of August
  • two weeks of finals for juniors and possibly three weeks of finals for seniors.

The majority votes were for Option 2, with the competition start date being the 15th of April.
