2022 Pre-Season Training

Rugby Union SA has been in discussions with various government bodies to determine the best possible outcome for clubs to start pre-season training in a safe, practical environment.

We understand the State Government’s current situation is to reduce the movement of people, with individuals asked to work from home where possible, various activities moved to online only and children asked to start remote learning until the 14th of February.

In addition to this, latest SA Government modelling indicates the peak of the current outbreak will be towards the end of January/early February.

Taking all of this into consideration, RUSA is advising the following:

  • pre-season training for those in primary school, age-grades from Under 6s through to Under 12s, to commence no earlier than week beginning 14th of February.
  • Clubs to provide training spaces and activities on multiple days for those participating in pre-season from Under 14 and higher, to reduce their visits to once per week until the 14th of February.
  • Clubs to keep accurate records of who is training on which nights
  • Clubs to keep training to ‘non-contact’ until 14th Feb
  • All indoor areas will remain closed/minimal use, such as changerooms, inside bars and eating areas.
  • If you are feeling unwell, you must stay home.
  • If you are diagnosed as COVID positive, and have attended a training session, you must advise your club secretary asap.

Our key priority is the health and safety of our community, and the wider community we live in.
