Brighton coach Richard Wasley is eager to shake off last weekend’s shock loss with Burnside set to pose another stern test on Saturday.

The Tigers conceded two tries in the final five minutes against Old Collegians – something Wasley knows they can ill-afford in their grand final rematch.

“We did pretty well for a first game, just let ourselves down with three basic errors towards the end that resulted in two tries and the turnover so credit to Old Colls for capitalising,” Wasley said.

“There’s a few things to iron out but we know we can be better. We’re already looking good in patches and there’s some speed out wide so it’s just about getting the ball into the right areas.

“We’re looking forward to taking on Burnside again. Last year’s grand final was a tough old affair in slippery conditions so hopefully we can have a dry track and some fast rugby but we’re just keen to get out there.”

Wasley also paid tribute to Tigers prop Rhys Fishwick, who will bring up his 200th game for Brighton during Saturday’s Anzac Cup clash.

“Yeah the Falcon, Rhys, he’s a good club man and it’s a great milestone for him,” he said.

“He’s worked hard to get into the A-Grade side over a few seasons and he’s become an important part of the team.”

In the other Premier Grade fixtures, Woodville make their first appearance of the year against Port Adelaide, Elizabeth host Old Collegians, and Onkaparinga welcome Southern Suburbs.
