RUSA Round 4 Wrap: Burnside clinch Anzac Cup in thrilling GF rematch

A last-gasp try from Nichel Lam Sam did enough to secure Burnside's thrilling win over Brighton in Round 4 of the men's Premier Grade.

In a rematch of last year's decider, both sides crossed for three tries with Lam Sam's overtime effort breaking Tiger hearts and earning Burnside Anzac Cup bragging rights for 2024.

Cameron Green and Lachlan English also scored for Burnside with Freeman Eder adding 10 points off the tee while Aidan Flynn, Jaden Phillips and Mickael Becat-Narbey dotted down for Brighton.

Barossa also emerged victorious in a single-digit thriller, beating Souths 30-29 at AA Bailey Reserve.

It's the Rams' biggest scalp since returning to Premier Grade with Amininiasi Vutulevu again chief destroyer with two tries to see off a brave Souths outfit spearheaded by Taniel Lalakubau (19 points).

Meanwhile Woodville and Old Collegians earned bonus-point wins at home over Elizabeth and Adelaide Uni respectively with Onkaparinga rolling Port Adelaide 40-12 at Riverside Oval.

In the women's competition, Burnside clinched top spot from Woodville with a 27-7 win over Adelaide University while Onkas beat Port 35-10 on the road.

Brighton remain unbeaten in the lower grades, leading the Reserve and Third grade ladders respectively.
